Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 3 medium apples (granny smith or similar), peeled and diced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

    Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch square baking pan.

    Peel, core, and dice apples into 1/2-inch chunks. Set aside.

    Cream butter and brown sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.

    Beat in the egg until fully combined.

    Fold in flour and cinnamon until just combined. Do not overmix.

    Fold in diced apples gently until distributed throughout the batter.

    Spread batter into prepared pan. Smooth the top with a spatula.
