Honey Walnut Diples

Crispy phyllo ribbons twisted and fried, then drenched in warm honey and sprinkled with crushed walnuts. A Greek dessert that tastes restaurant-quality but comes together in 12 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 8 sheets phyllo sheets, thawed
  • 2 cups neutral oil for frying
  • ¾ cup honey
  • ¾ cup walnuts, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp water

Instructions

    Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high until a phyllo corner sizzles on contact, ~3 minutes.

    Stack 2 phyllo sheets, cut lengthwise into 5 strips, then twist each strip loosely.

    Fry twists in batches until deep golden and crispy, ~2 minutes. Lift with a slotted spoon onto paper towels.

    Warm honey with water and cinnamon in a small pot over low heat, stirring, until pourable, ~2 minutes.

    Toss warm diples in a bowl with half the honey syrup until well coated.

    Pile on a platter, drizzle with remaining honey, sprinkle walnuts and extra cinnamon, serve immediately.
