- 1.75 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup whole milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl until combined.

Whisk egg, milk, and vanilla in another bowl until smooth.

Pour wet mixture into dry ingredients and stir until just combined—do not overmix.

Transfer batter to a piping bag fitted with a large plain tip.

Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to verify temperature.

Pipe 3-inch rings of batter directly into hot oil, leaving space between each.
