Ingredients
- 1.5 lb steak (such as ribeye or sirloin)
- 4 tbsp butter
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- 1
Take the steak out of the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for 20 minutes. Pat it dry with paper towels.
- 2
Season both sides of the steak with the 1 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp black pepper, pressing gently to adhere.
- 3
Heat a grill or grill pan over high heat. Brush the steak with the 1 tbsp olive oil and place it on the grill.
- 4
Grill the steak for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired doneness (use a meat thermometer: 130°F for medium-rare).
- 5
While the steak cooks, melt the 4 tbsp butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add the 3 minced garlic cloves and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, then remove from heat.
- 6
Transfer the steak to a cutting board and let it rest for 5 minutes. Pour the garlic butter over the steak, then slice and serve with the juices.
- 7
Serve the steak with the garlic butter spooned over the top.
