Ingredients
- 1 lb steak (such as sirloin or ribeye)
- 1 head broccoli
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ¼ cup red wine
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 pinch salt and pepper
Instructions
- 1
Pat the 1 lb steak dry and season both sides with salt and pepper. Let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes.
- 2
Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a grill pan or skillet over high heat. Add the steak and cook for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, until a thermometer reads 130°F. Transfer to a plate and let rest.
- 3
In the same pan, add 1 tbsp olive oil and the 1 head broccoli cut into florets. Cook over medium-high, stirring occasionally, until charred and tender, about 6 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- 4
Reduce heat to medium. Add the 1/4 cup red wine and scrape up any browned bits. Simmer until reduced by half, about 2 minutes.
- 5
Stir in the 1/2 cup heavy cream and simmer until slightly thickened, about 3 minutes. Slice the steak and serve with the broccoli and sauce spooned over.
