Ingredients

  • 4 links bratwurst sausages
  • 1 cup beer
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. 1

In a large skillet, melt the 2 tbsp butter over medium heat. Add the 1 sliced onion and cook until soft and golden, about 8 minutes. Set aside.

  2. 2

In a shallow dish, pour the 1 cup beer. Add the 4 bratwurst and let soak for 15 minutes, turning once.

  3. 3

Preheat grill to medium-high. Remove bratwurst from beer and pat dry with paper towels.

  4. 4

Brush the bratwurst with the 1 tbsp vegetable oil and season with the 1 tsp salt and 0.5 tsp black pepper.

  5. 5

Grill the bratwurst, turning every 3-4 minutes, until charred and cooked through (internal temp 160°F), about 12-15 minutes total.

  6. 6

Serve hot with the caramelized onions on top.
