Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef steak (such as sirloin or ribeye)
  • 2 ripe plantains
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • ½ cup fresh parsley
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 0 to taste salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. 1

Season the 1 lb steak generously with salt and pepper on both sides. Let it sit at room temperature while you prepare the plantains.

  2. 2

Peel and slice the 2 plantains into 1/2-inch rounds. Heat 1 tbsp of the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the plantains until golden brown and caramelized, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.

  3. 3

In a small bowl, mince the 4 garlic cloves and chop the 1/2 cup parsley. Mix with the remaining 2 tbsp olive oil and a pinch of salt to make a quick garlic herb sauce.

  4. 4

Grill the steak over high heat for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired doneness. Let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

  5. 5

Slice the steak against the grain and serve with the plantains, drizzled with the garlic herb sauce.
