Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.25 cups buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 tbsp butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 lb fresh strawberries, hulled & halved
  • 1 cup heavy cream, cold

Instructions

  1. 1

Heat waffle iron to high. Whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a bowl.

  2. 2

Whisk buttermilk, eggs, and melted butter in another bowl until smooth.

  3. 3

Fold wet ingredients into dry until just combined—lumps are fine, don't overmix.

  4. 4

Pour batter into waffle iron and cook until golden brown and crispy, ~4 minutes per waffle. Repeat with remaining batter.

  5. 5

Whip cold heavy cream with 1 tbsp sugar until soft peaks form, ~2 minutes with a whisk or mixer.

  6. 6

Stack waffles on plates, top with strawberries and a generous dollop of whipped cream. Serve immediately.
