Ingredients

  • 1 cake store-bought chocolate cake (8-inch round or sheet)
  • 6 tbsp butter
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
  • ¾ cup pecans, chopped
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp salt

Instructions

    Toast coconut in a dry skillet over medium heat, stirring constantly, until golden and fragrant, 3–4 minutes. Transfer to a bowl.

    In the same skillet, melt butter with brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves, ~2 minutes.
