Ingredients

  • 18 cookies Oreo cookies
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 quarts vegetable oil for frying
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. 1

Whisk together flour, egg, and milk in a shallow bowl until smooth with no lumps.

  2. 2

Pat Oreos completely dry with a paper towel before dipping—moisture prevents coating.

  3. 3

Heat oil in a heavy pot to 350°F using a deep-fry thermometer, about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

Dip each Oreo into batter, coating all sides, then slide into hot oil.

  5. 5

Fry in batches 60–90 seconds per side until deep golden brown, turning once.

  6. 6

Transfer fried Oreos to a paper-towel-lined plate using a slotted spoon.

  7. 7

Dust generously with powdered sugar while still warm and serve immediately.
