Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. 1

In a medium bowl, whisk together the 1 cup flour and 1 teaspoon baking powder. Stir in the 1/2 cup milk until a soft dough forms, about 30 seconds.

  2. 2

Heat the 2 cups vegetable oil in a small saucepan over medium heat until it shimmers and a tiny piece of dough sizzles immediately, about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

Drop rounded teaspoons of dough into the hot oil, about 4 at a time. Fry until golden brown on all sides, turning occasionally, about 3 minutes total. Drain on paper towels.

  4. 4

In a shallow bowl, mix the 1 cup powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon of the hot oil, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract until smooth. Dip each warm donut hole into the icing, coating completely.

  5. 5

Place the iced donut holes on a wire rack to set for 2 minutes before serving.
