Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 2 cups vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. 1

In a large bowl, whisk together the 2 cups flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 3 tbsp sugar, and 1/2 tsp salt.

  2. 2

Pour in the 3/4 cup milk and stir with a spoon until a soft, sticky dough forms, about 1 minute.

  3. 3

Heat the 2 cups oil in a deep pot over medium-high until a drop of dough sizzles immediately, about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

Drop spoonfuls of dough into the hot oil, frying in batches without crowding, until golden brown and puffed, about 3-4 minutes per batch.

  5. 5

Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve warm.
