Ingredients

  • 1 loaf (8 oz) Cuban bread or hoagie roll
  • 4 oz deli ham, sliced
  • 4 oz roasted pork (mojo pork or carnitas), sliced
  • 2 oz Swiss cheese, sliced
  • ¼ cup dill pickle slices
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp butter, softened

Instructions

  1. 1

Slice Cuban bread in half horizontally. Spread mustard on bottom half and butter on top half.

  2. 2

Layer ham, roasted pork, and Swiss cheese on the bottom half.

  3. 3

Scatter pickle slices evenly over the cheese.

  4. 4

Close the sandwich and press gently so layers compress.

  5. 5

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high until a drop of water sizzles, ~2 minutes.

  6. 6

Place sandwich on the hot skillet and press with a spatula or heavy lid for 3 minutes.

  7. 7

Flip and press for another 2–3 minutes until the second side is golden and cheese melts.

  8. 8

Transfer to a cutting board, let cool 1 minute, then cut diagonally and serve immediately.
