Ingredients
- 3 medium, thinly sliced yellow onions
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp garam masala
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 small green chili, minced
- 1 cup basmati rice, cooked
- 1 cup chicken curry (jarred or prepared)
- 1 tbsp tamarind or lime juice

Toss onions, flour, garam masala, turmeric, and green chili in a bowl. Add 3 tbsp water and salt until batter clings to onions.

Heat 1 inch neutral oil in a deep skillet over medium-high until a pinch of batter sizzles immediately, ~3 minutes.

Drop spoonfuls of onion batter into oil; fry 2-3 minutes per side until deep golden brown and crispy.

Transfer bhaji to a paper towel–lined plate. Warm curry in a small pot or microwave until steaming.
