Ingredients
- 2 cups shredded phyllo dough (or filo)
- 1 cup white cheese (feta, mozzarella, or white cheddar, crumbled)
- 4 tbsp butter
- ½ cup honey
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- ¼ cup almonds (chopped or slivered)

Heat 2 tbsp butter in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high until foaming, ~90 seconds.

Add shredded phyllo, tossing constantly with a wooden spoon until golden and crispy, 4–5 minutes.

Sprinkle crumbled cheese evenly over the phyllo, then drizzle remaining 2 tbsp butter on top.

Cover skillet and reduce heat to low until cheese melts, 2–3 minutes. Don't stir.

While cheese melts, warm honey and lemon juice together in a small saucepan or microwave bowl, 90 seconds.

Pour warm honey-lemon syrup over melted künefe, sprinkle with chopped almonds, and serve immediately.
