Ingredients
- ½ lb ground beef
- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 cup frozen corn kernels
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 clove garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- 1
Pour 2 tablespoons olive oil into a 10-inch skillet and heat over medium-high heat until the oil shimmers and slides quickly when you tilt the pan, about 90 seconds.
- 2
Add 0.5 pounds ground beef, breaking it into marble-sized pieces with a wooden spoon as it cooks, until no pink remains and the beef is golden brown, about 5 minutes.
- 3
Pour in 2 tablespoons soy sauce and stir the beef to coat evenly, about 20 seconds.
- 4
Stir in 2 minced garlic cloves until the raw garlic smell becomes fragrant and warm, about 30 seconds.
- 5
Add 1 cup frozen corn kernels and stir constantly until the corn is heated through and the beef is well mixed with the corn, about 2 minutes.
- 6
Sprinkle 3 tablespoons cornstarch over the mixture and stir constantly until the cornstarch disappears into the beef and corn and the bottom of the pan looks golden and crispy, about 4 minutes.
- 7
Scrape the bottom and sides of the skillet with a wooden spoon to loosen any stuck-on bits, which add flavor and crispiness, about 20 seconds.
- 8
Transfer the cornsilog to a plate using a spatula or spoon, keeping the crispy bits from the bottom.
