Ingredients

  • 2 whole ripe avocados
  • ½ whole lime
  • ½ whole tomato
  • 2 tablespoons white onion
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped

    Cut each avocado in half lengthwise from stem end to tip, rotating around the pit. Twist the two halves apart and remove the pit by carefully scooping it out with a spoon.

    Use a spoon to scoop the soft avocado flesh from the skin and place it in a medium bowl. Discard the skins and pits.

    Dice the tomato into 1/4-inch cubes by cutting it in half, removing the wet center, then slicing lengthwise into strips and cutting crosswise into small pieces.

    Mince the onion into pieces smaller than a grain of rice by slicing a thin slice from the root end, then cutting crosswise into the finest pieces you can.

    Squeeze the lime juice (about 1.5 tablespoons) over the avocado in the bowl. Mash the avocado with a fork until it reaches your preferred texture—chunky or smooth.

    Add the diced tomato, minced onion, and chopped cilantro to the mashed avocado and stir gently with a spoon until combined.

    Taste the guacamole, then sprinkle salt and pepper over the surface and stir once more until the seasoning is evenly distributed throughout.
