Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups neutral oil for frying
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar mixed with ground cinnamon
  • 4 oz whole milk or dark chocolate, chopped
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup dulce de leche

Instructions

  1. 1

Heat oil in a deep skillet or saucepan over medium-high to 375°F (use a thermometer). Mix flour and water in a bowl to make a thick dough.

  2. 2

Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe 4-inch strips into hot oil, using scissors to cut the dough.

  3. 3

Fry churros until golden brown and crispy on both sides, ~1–2 minutes total. Lift with a slotted spoon onto paper towels.

  4. 4

While still warm, toss churros in cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.

  5. 5

Heat chocolate and cream together in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth and glossy, ~2 minutes.

  6. 6

Warm dulce de leche in a small bowl (30 seconds in the microwave or 1 minute on the stovetop). Serve churros with both dips alongside.
