Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1 pint strawberries
  • ¼ cup sugar

Instructions

  1. 1

Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to package directions and bake in a 9-inch round pan. Let cool completely, about 30 minutes.

  2. 2

Melt the 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Let cool slightly.

  3. 3

In a large bowl, whip 1 cup of the heavy cream with 2 tbsp of the sugar until stiff peaks form. Gently fold in the melted chocolate to make the mousse.

  4. 4

Slice the cooled cake horizontally into two layers. Spread the chocolate mousse between the layers and over the top of the cake.

  5. 5

Whip the remaining 1 cup heavy cream with the remaining 2 tbsp sugar until soft peaks. Spread over the mousse, top with sliced strawberries, and serve.
