Ingredients
- 2 large croissants
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- ½ cup semisweet chocolate chips
- ¼ cup heavy cream (for sauce)
- 1 medium orange
- ¼ cup sliced almonds
- 1 tbsp powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- 1
Preheat oven to 350°F. Slice 2 croissants in half horizontally and place on a baking sheet. Warm in oven for 5 minutes until crisp and fragrant.
- 2
In a small saucepan over low heat, combine 1/2 cup chocolate chips and 1/4 cup heavy cream. Stir constantly until smooth and glossy, about 3 minutes. Remove from heat.
- 3
In a chilled bowl, whip 1 cup heavy cream with 2 tbsp powdered sugar until soft peaks form, about 3 minutes with an electric mixer.
- 4
Toast 1/4 cup sliced almonds in a dry skillet over medium heat, shaking often, until golden and nutty, about 3 minutes. Set aside.
- 5
Slice 1 orange into thin rounds, then cut rounds in half. Place croissant halves on plates, cut side up.
- 6
Drizzle chocolate sauce generously over each croissant half. Top with a large dollop of whipped cream.
- 7
Arrange orange slices around the croissant. Sprinkle with toasted almonds and dust with 1 tbsp powdered sugar. Serve immediately.
