Ingredients
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 4 tbsp butter
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup corn syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp salt
- 2 cups chocolate chips
Instructions
- 1
Line an 8x8-inch pan with parchment paper. In a medium saucepan, combine the 1 can sweetened condensed milk, 4 tbsp butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 1/4 cup corn syrup.
- 2
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and turns a deep golden brown, about 10-12 minutes. It should pull away from the sides of the pan.
- 3
Remove from heat and stir in the 1 tsp vanilla extract and 1/4 tsp salt. Pour the caramel into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Let cool to room temperature, about 30 minutes.
- 4
Once cool, cut the caramel into 12 bars. Place the 2 cups chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and melt in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth.
- 5
Dip each caramel bar into the melted chocolate, coating completely. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Let set at room temperature until the chocolate is firm, about 20 minutes.
- 6
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
