Ingredients
- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 3 large eggs
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup water
- 1 can chocolate frosting
- 1 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- 1
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease two 9-inch round pans. In a large bowl, combine the 1 box chocolate cake mix, 3 eggs, 1/2 cup oil, and 1 cup water. Beat until smooth, about 2 minutes.
- 2
Pour batter evenly into the prepared pans. Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 25-30 minutes. Let cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- 3
In a chilled bowl, whip the 1 cup heavy cream with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form, about 3-4 minutes. Set aside.
- 4
Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a thin layer of the 1 can chocolate frosting on top. Place the second layer on top. Frost the entire cake with the remaining chocolate frosting, smoothing the sides and top.
- 5
Pipe the whipped cream into roses on top of the cake using a star tip. Drizzle with extra chocolate sauce if desired. Slice and serve.
