Ingredients
- 1 whole round loaf or boule bread (8 to 10 inches diameter)
- 4 tbsp butter, softened
- 4 cloves garlic cloves, minced
- ¾ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 2 sprigs fresh rosemary sprigs, leaves stripped and chopped
- 1 pinch salt and black pepper
Instructions
- 1
Preheat oven to 375°F. Mix softened butter with minced garlic, chopped rosemary, Parmesan, salt, and pepper in a small bowl until combined.
- 2
Using a serrated knife, cut the bread in a crosshatch pattern without cutting all the way through the bottom—aim for 1-inch cubes that still hold together.
- 3
Spread the garlic-butter mixture into every crevice and cut, working it between the bread pieces with a small spoon or butter knife.
- 4
Place the loaf on a sheet pan lined with foil. Wrap the foil loosely around the sides to catch any dripping butter.
- 5
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the bread is golden and the butter is sizzling, then unwrap the foil and broil for 1 minute to crisp the top.
- 6
Serve hot. Pull apart pieces with your fingers and enjoy the melted Parmesan and garlicky butter inside.
