Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup water
- 2 cups vegetable oil
- 8 ounces mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- 1
In a large bowl, mix 2 cups flour and 1/2 tsp salt. Gradually add 3/4 cup water, stirring until a soft dough forms, about 2 minutes.
- 2
Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, about 5 minutes. Cover with a damp towel and rest for 10 minutes.
- 3
Cut 8 oz mozzarella into 3-inch long, 1/2-inch thick sticks. Divide dough into 8 pieces and roll each into a thin rope.
- 4
Wrap each cheese stick with a dough rope, pinching ends to seal completely. Repeat with remaining sticks.
- 5
Heat 2 cups oil in a deep skillet to 350°F. Fry sticks in batches, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crisp, about 3-4 minutes.
- 6
Drain on paper towels and serve warm, while the cheese is still melty.
