Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry sheet
- 1 large onion
- 150 g cheddar cheese
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 large egg
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
Instructions
- 1
Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2
Melt the 1 tbsp butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the 1 sliced onion and cook until soft and golden, about 8 minutes. Season with the 0.5 tsp salt and 0.25 tsp black pepper, then let cool slightly.
- 3
Roll out the 1 puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into 4 equal squares.
- 4
Divide the cooked onion and 150 g grated cheddar cheese among the centers of the pastry squares. Fold each square diagonally to form a triangle and press the edges with a fork to seal.
- 5
Beat the 1 egg in a small bowl. Brush the tops of the pasties with the beaten egg.
- 6
Place the pasties on the prepared baking sheet. Bake until golden brown and puffed, about 20-25 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
- 7
Serve warm. Enjoy the flaky pastry and melted cheese filling!
