Ingredients

  • 4 count store-bought steamed buns (baozi)
  • ⅓ lb ground pork
  • 1.5 tbsp soy sauce
  • ¼ tsp white pepper (freshly ground)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (white)
  • 1 handful lettuce & cherry tomatoes (for serving)

Instructions

  1. 1

Heat a skillet over medium-high. Brown ground pork, breaking it up with a spoon, until no pink remains.

  2. 2

Stir in soy sauce and white pepper. Toss until fragrant, about 30 seconds, then remove from heat.

  3. 3

Slice buns in half horizontally. Fill each with a spoonful of cooked pork.

  4. 4

Sprinkle sesame seeds on top of each filled bun. Press gently to adhere.

  5. 5

Return skillet to medium-high heat. Sear buns sesame-side down until golden and crispy, about 90 seconds.

  6. 6

Serve warm with fresh lettuce and cherry tomatoes on the side.
