Ingredients
- 1 lb pork shoulder
- 3 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp five-spice powder
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 cup rice
- ½ cup pickled vegetables
Instructions
- 1
Slice the 1 lb pork shoulder into 1-inch thick strips. In a bowl, mix 3 tbsp hoisin, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp honey, 1 tsp five-spice, and 2 minced garlic cloves.
- 2
Coat the pork strips with the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight for deeper flavor.
- 3
Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top. Arrange the pork on the rack, reserving the marinade.
- 4
Roast the pork for 20-25 minutes, basting with reserved marinade halfway, until the edges are caramelized and the internal temperature reaches 145°F.
- 5
Meanwhile, cook the 1 cup rice according to package instructions. Fluff with a fork.
- 6
Let the pork rest for 5 minutes, then slice into bite-sized pieces. Serve over the rice with 0.5 cup pickled vegetables on the side.
- 7
Optional: drizzle extra pan juices over the rice for more flavor.
