Ingredients

  • 2 burger buns
  • ½ lb ground beef
  • 2 cheddar cheese slices
  • 1 avocado
  • 2 lettuce leaves
  • 1 tomato

Instructions

  1. 1

Divide the 1/2 lb ground beef into 2 equal portions and shape into patties slightly wider than the buns. Season both sides with salt and pepper.

  2. 2

Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through, with an internal temperature of 160°F.

  3. 3

Place 1 cheddar cheese slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking, covering the pan to melt the cheese until gooey.

  4. 4

Toast the 2 burger buns in the same pan until golden, about 1 minute. Slice the avocado and tomato.

  5. 5

Assemble: place lettuce on the bottom bun, add the patty, top with avocado slices and tomato, then cover with the top bun. Serve immediately.
