Ingredients

  • ¾ cup light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups chocolate chunks or chips

    Heat butter in a small saucepan over medium until it foams and turns amber, ~5 minutes. Pour into a bowl and let cool 2 minutes.

    Whisk brown sugar, granulated sugar, and egg into the cooled butter until combined, ~1 minute.

    Fold in flour, salt, and baking soda (pinch of each) until just mixed. Fold in chocolate chunks.

    Scoop dough into 12 balls on a parchment-lined sheet pan, spacing 2 inches apart.

    Bake at 375°F for 10–12 minutes until golden brown at edges but centers still look slightly underbaked.
