Ingredients
- 4 bratwurst sausages
- 4 hot dog buns
- 1 cup dill pickle slices
- 1 tomato
- 1 red onion
- 2 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- 1
Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add 4 bratwurst sausages and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 12-15 minutes.
- 2
While the sausages cook, slice 1 tomato into thin rounds and 1 red onion into thin rings. Set aside.
- 3
When the sausages are done, remove them from the skillet and let them rest for 2 minutes. If you like, toast the 4 hot dog buns in the same skillet for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.
- 4
Spread 1/2 tbsp yellow mustard inside each bun. Place one sausage in each bun.
- 5
Top each sausage with a few slices of tomato, a few rings of red onion, and a generous handful of dill pickle slices (about 1/4 cup per bun). Serve immediately.
- 6
Optional: add sauerkraut or a drizzle of ketchup if you have them.
