Ingredients

  • 1 link (about 200g) boerewors sausage
  • 1 hot dog buns
  • ½ medium onion
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. 1

Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Brush the 1 tsp vegetable oil over the boerewors sausage to prevent sticking.

  2. 2

Grill the boerewors, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through (no pink inside), about 10-12 minutes. The sausage should feel firm to the touch.

  3. 3

While the sausage cooks, thinly slice the 0.5 onion. In a small skillet over medium heat, sauté the onion until soft and golden, about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

Toast the hot dog bun on the grill for 1-2 minutes until lightly charred.

  5. 5

Place the cooked boerewors in the bun, top with the sautéed onion, and drizzle with the 1 tbsp ketchup. Serve hot.
