Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1.5 cups milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • ½ cup maple syrup

Instructions

  1. 1

In a large bowl, whisk together the 1.5 cups flour, 1.5 tsp baking powder, 2 tbsp sugar, and 0.5 tsp salt.

  2. 2

In a separate bowl, beat the 2 eggs, then whisk in the 1.5 cups milk and 2 tbsp melted butter until combined.

  3. 3

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and stir until just smooth; a few lumps are okay. Let the batter rest for 10 minutes.

  4. 4

Heat an æbleskiver pan over medium heat and brush the wells with the remaining 1 tbsp butter.

  5. 5

Pour about 2 tbsp of batter into each well, filling almost to the top. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, about 2-3 minutes.

  6. 6

Use a skewer or fork to turn each pancake ball a quarter turn, then continue turning until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes total.

  7. 7

Serve the æbleskiver warm with the 0.5 cup maple syrup for dipping or drizzling.
