Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze), plus butter and milk

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 12-cavity donut pan with nonstick spray.

  2. 2

Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.

  3. 3

In another bowl, whisk eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla until combined.

  4. 4

Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Fold gently until just combined; batter should be thick and slightly lumpy.

  5. 5

Transfer batter to a piping bag (or large zip-top bag with a corner snipped). Pipe into prepared pan until 3/4 full.

  6. 6

Bake until a toothpick inserted into a donut comes out clean, 8–10 minutes. Tops should be lightly golden.

  7. 7

Cool in pan 3 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack.

  8. 8

Whisk 1 cup powdered sugar with 2 tbsp softened butter and 2–3 tbsp milk until smooth glaze forms.

  9. 9

Dip warm donuts into glaze, then set on a wire rack to set, ~5 minutes. Serve warm.
