Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 whole egg
  • ¼ cup whole milk
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ½ cup powdered sugar

Instructions

    Mix flour, cocoa, sugar, egg, milk, and 3 tbsp melted butter in a bowl until smooth.

    Divide batter between two microwave-safe mugs. Microwave each mug 90 seconds until a toothpick comes out moist but not wet.

    Let cakes cool 3 minutes, then invert each onto a plate to release.

    Whisk 2 tbsp melted butter with cocoa powder and powdered sugar until glossy.

    Spread frosting on the flat side of one cake layer, then press the second cake on top.

    Slice and serve immediately while the cake is still warm.
