Ingredients

  • 12 count wonton wrappers
  • 1 medium granny smith apple
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups neutral oil for frying
  • ½ cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. 1

Peel and dice the apple into 1/4-inch chunks. Toss with cinnamon and 1 tbsp sugar.

  2. 2

Spoon 1 tsp apple mixture onto center of each wonton wrapper. Wet edges with water.

  3. 3

Fold wrapper into a triangle, pressing edges to seal. Then fold corners together to form a purse.

  4. 4

Heat oil to 350°F in a heavy skillet. Test with a small piece of wrapper—it should sizzle immediately.

  5. 5

Fry pies 90 seconds per side until deep golden brown. Transfer to a paper towel.

  6. 6

Toss warm pies in remaining 1 tbsp cinnamon-sugar. Serve with caramel sauce for dipping.
