Ingredients

  • 2 layers store-bought chocolate cake (8-9 inch round, or 6-8 brownies)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 oz dark chocolate (chopped)

Instructions

    Heat butter in a saucepan over medium until melted, ~2 minutes.

    Whisk in cocoa powder, sugar, and cream until smooth and glossy, ~3 minutes. Remove from heat.

    Stir in vanilla. Let the frosting cool for 2 minutes until it thickens slightly.
