Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs fresh cherries, pitted and halved
- ¾ cup sugar
- ½ lemon lemon, juiced

Add cherries, sugar, and lemon juice to a saucepan over medium-high heat.

Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture starts to bubble, about 2 minutes.

Simmer without stirring until the fruit breaks down and the liquid turns syrupy, 4–5 minutes.

Mash the cherries with the back of a spoon if you like a chunky texture, or leave whole.
