- 4 lb whole chicken
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika

Preheat oven to 425°F. Pat the 4 lb chicken dry with paper towels, then rub all over with 2 tbsp olive oil.

In a small bowl, mix 1 tbsp salt, 1 tsp black pepper, 1 tsp garlic powder, and 1 tsp paprika. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the entire chicken, including the cavity.

Place the chicken breast-side up on a roasting pan or baking sheet. Roast for 60-75 minutes, until the skin is deep golden and crispy and a thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh reads 165°F.

Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes before carving. The juices should run clear when you cut between the leg and thigh.
