Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. 2

In a food processor, pulse 1 cup walnuts and 1/4 cup brown sugar until finely ground, about 30 seconds.

  3. 3

Roll out 1 sheet puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Spread the walnut mixture evenly over the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border.

  4. 4

Cut the pastry into 4 triangles. Roll each triangle from the wide end to the tip, then curve into a crescent shape. Place on the prepared baking sheet.

  5. 5

Beat 1 egg with 1 tbsp water. Brush the egg wash over each croissant. Sprinkle with extra chopped walnuts if desired.

  6. 6

Bake until golden brown and puffed, 18-20 minutes. Let cool slightly, then dust with 1 tbsp powdered sugar.
