Ingredients
- ¾ lb ground beef
- 1.5 cups basmati rice
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cups beef broth
- 4 whole cardamom pods (crushed)
- 1 whole cinnamon stick

Heat 2 tbsp oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon, until no pink remains, about 4 minutes.

Add diced onion and cook, stirring, until softened and fragrant, about 2 minutes.

Stir in rice, crushing cardamom pods lightly and adding them along with cinnamon stick. Toast for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Pour in beef broth and bring to a boil. Season with salt and pepper, then cover and reduce heat to low.

Simmer covered for 12 minutes without lifting the lid, until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
