Ingredients
- 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- 1
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
- 2
In a medium bowl, whisk together the 1.5 cups flour, 2 tsp baking powder, and 0.5 tsp salt.
- 3
In a large bowl, beat the 0.5 cup butter and 1 cup sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add the 2 eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
- 4
Add the flour mixture and 0.5 cup milk alternately, starting and ending with flour, mixing until just combined. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
- 5
Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 25-30 minutes. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- 6
Whip the 1 cup heavy cream with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form, about 3-4 minutes. Spread over the cooled cake.
- 7
Top with fresh strawberries and cherries, then dust with powdered sugar. Serve immediately.
