Ingredients
- 1 lb pizza dough
- ½ lb ground sausage
- ½ cup pizza sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 jalapeño
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 475°F. If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven now; otherwise, use a baking sheet.
- 2
In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the 0.5 lb ground sausage, breaking it into crumbles, until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat and set aside.
- 3
On a floured surface, stretch or roll the 1 lb pizza dough into a 12-inch round. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet or pizza peel.
- 4
Brush the dough with 1 tbsp olive oil, then spread 0.5 cup pizza sauce evenly over the surface, leaving a 1-inch border for the crust.
- 5
Sprinkle 1.5 cups of the 2 cups mozzarella over the sauce, then scatter the cooked sausage and the 1 jalapeño (thinly sliced) on top. Finish with the remaining 0.5 cup mozzarella.
- 6
Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and browned in spots. Let cool for 2 minutes before slicing.
- 7
Slice and serve hot.
