Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 2 whole sub rolls
  • 2 leaves lettuce

Instructions

  1. 1

In a large bowl, combine 1 lb ground beef, 1/2 cup breadcrumbs, 1 egg, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp black pepper. Mix with your hands until just combined, about 1 minute.

  2. 2

Roll the mixture into 8 equal meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on a plate.

  3. 3

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs in a single layer and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 10-12 minutes. The meatballs should feel firm and reach 160°F internally.

  4. 4

While the meatballs cook, split the 2 sub rolls and toast them in a toaster or under the broiler until golden, about 2 minutes.

  5. 5

Place 4 meatballs in each toasted roll. Top with 1 lettuce leaf per sandwich and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot.
