Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion
  • 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 2 lb potatoes
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. 1

Peel and chop the 2 lb potatoes into chunks. Boil in salted water until fork-tender, about 15 minutes.

  2. 2

While potatoes cook, heat a large skillet over medium-high. Add the 1 lb ground beef and 1 chopped onion; cook until beef is browned and onion is soft, about 8 minutes.

  3. 3

Stir in the 15 oz tomato sauce and simmer until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

  4. 4

Drain potatoes and mash with the 0.5 cup milk and 2 tbsp butter until smooth. Season with salt.

  5. 5

Serve the meat sauce over the mashed potatoes, garnished with fresh herbs if you like.
