Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 small head (about 1 lb) napa cabbage, chopped into 2-inch pieces
  • 4 whole scallions, white and light green parts, chopped
  • 1.5 tbsp ginger, minced
  • 2 cups chicken or pork broth
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

Instructions

  1. 1

Mix ground pork with half the scallions, 1 tbsp ginger, 1 tbsp soy sauce, and a pinch of salt until just combined.

  2. 2

Roll mixture into 8 large meatballs (about golf-ball size) and set aside on a plate.

  3. 3

Heat 1 tbsp neutral oil in a large skillet over medium-high until shimmering, about 90 seconds.

  4. 4

Add meatballs and sear without moving for 3 minutes until golden on one side, then roll and sear 2 minutes more.

  5. 5

Pour in broth, add remaining 0.5 tbsp ginger and 1 tbsp soy sauce, then nestle in cabbage and bring to a simmer.

  6. 6

Cover and simmer for 12 minutes until meatballs are cooked through and cabbage is tender. Drizzle sesame oil and top with remaining scallions.
