Ingredients
- 3 medium potatoes
- 1 small onion
- ½ pound ground beef
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup flour
- 2 cups vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons ketchup and mayonnaise

Peel and chop the 3 potatoes into chunks. Boil in salted water until fork-tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and mash until smooth.

Finely chop the 1 small onion. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the onion and 0.5 pound ground beef until browned, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

Mix the mashed potatoes with the cooked beef and onion. Shape into 4 oval patties, then insert a wooden stick into each one.

Set up three bowls: 0.5 cup flour, 1 beaten egg, and 1 cup panko breadcrumbs. Coat each patty in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs.

Heat 2 cups vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the patties in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
