- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup cold butter
- ¾ cup buttermilk
- 1 tbsp butter (for brushing)

Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.

Cube the cold butter into small pieces. Add to the flour and work with your fingertips until mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs.
