Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 medium green bell pepper
  • ¾ cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. 1

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the 1 lb ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain off excess fat if desired.

  2. 2

Add the 1 diced onion and 1 diced green bell pepper to the skillet. Cook over medium heat until softened, about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

Stir in the 3/4 cup ketchup, 1 tbsp brown sugar, and 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce. Mix well to combine.

  4. 4

Reduce heat to low and let the mixture simmer, stirring occasionally, until thickened and flavors meld, about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  5. 5

Toast the 4 hamburger buns if desired. Spoon the hot beef mixture generously onto the bottom halves of the buns, then top with the other halves. Serve immediately.
