- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp active dry yeast
- ½ cup milk
- ¼ cup sugar
- ½ cup butter
- 1 large egg

In a small bowl, dissolve the 1 tbsp yeast and 1 tbsp of the sugar in 1/4 cup warm milk. Let sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.

In a large bowl, mix the 2 cups flour, remaining 3 tbsp sugar, and 1/4 tsp salt. Add the yeast mixture, remaining 1/4 cup milk, and 1 egg. Stir until a soft dough forms.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth. Press into a greased 9x13-inch pan. Cover and let rise in a warm spot for 15 minutes.

Preheat oven to 375°F. Using your finger, make dimples all over the dough. Dot with the 1/2 cup butter (cut into small pieces) and sprinkle with 2 tbsp sugar.
