Ingredients

  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 whole eggs
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 oz chocolate bars (dark or milk)

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix flour, cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt in a bowl.

  2. 2

Whisk eggs with sugar until pale and thick, about 90 seconds. Stir in melted butter and vanilla.

  3. 3

Fold dry mixture into wet mixture until just combined; don't overmix.

  4. 4

Pour batter into a greased 8-inch cast iron skillet or square baking dish.

  5. 5

Break chocolate bars into pieces and scatter over the top. Bake until edges are set but center still jiggles slightly, 12–14 minutes.

  6. 6

Let cool 2 minutes, then slice into 8 pieces. The chocolate will melt and swirl into the warm brownies.
